A Little About Laura
How It All Began
I grew up in a home where sewing was part of everyday life. My mother made all of my clothes and taught me how to properly use a sewing machine, eventually guiding me as I began creating my own garments.
As a young adult—and a mother of two amazing boys—I was gifted a beautiful appliqué and embroidery quilt made by my grandmother. That quilt sparked something deeper in me. I began wondering how I could one day share a single, meaningful piece like that with both of my sons.
In the early 1990s, I set out to learn how to quilt and found a small group of women who generously shared their knowledge, passion, and “secrets” of the craft. I quickly discovered how fulfilling the process was—selecting fabrics, playing with color, and bringing something meaningful to life stitch by stitch.
Now, nearly 35 years later, quilting has become my happy place.
Stitches By Nonna was born as a way to share that passion with others. Today, I’m a vendor at a charming shop in DeLand, Florida, where I offer handcrafted quilts, reusable fabric towels, memory quilts, longarm quilting services, and a variety of other creations—each made with care, intention, and love.
